Guru Nanak Dev Ji left Baghdad shortly after the expiration of Mardana and his burial, as he left Pir Bahlol Dana, who was known as the Saint of Baghdad, decided to accompany Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his trip back to Hindustan. His thoughts were likely that Guru Nanak Dev Ji had set forth on his Epic Journey West with Mardana, and that he should not cross the Persian Empire without a friend who shared immense closeness and understanding of the message of oneness he had spread. Bahlol Dana, picked some pomegranates from his courtyard and took them for the trip. As the trip progressed, they never ran out of pomegranates which he had taken. It was not the first of the miracles which had occurred since Guru Nanak Dev Ji had left Hindustan, nor was it the last. It was clear that sustenance came along this route. When Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji reached the border of Hindustan, Pir Bahlol Dana it has been said had tears in his eyes, as he realized that he would likely never see Guru Nanak Dev Ji again. But, he knew that his friend desired very much to return back home and begin the next phase of his mission on this Earth.
